DESIGN + STORYTELLING = WIN

It’s not often that finance teaches us something about the powerful mix of storytelling and beautiful, simple design.  But Jonathan Jarvis’ incredible Crisis of Credit video does just that.

In a little over 11 minutes, Master of Fine Arts candidate Jonathan Jarvis is able to distill the complex credit meltdown into a short and simple story and graphic motion design video that not only keeps the viewer’s attention but does a fantastic job of crystallizing the current financial crisis .  In a testament to the power of eye-catching images and a simple story line, the Crisis of Credit video impacts, educates, and entertains more than the thousands of professional and pundit print, TV news and academia reports over the last few months.

If a dry topic like the credit crisis can be made sexy and worth sharing (the video has been viewed over 500k times just at YouTube), imagine what great design and storytelling like Jonathan Jarvis’ can do for brands, products, and other important, yet often misunderstood, news stories, issues, and messages.

Take a few minutes and check out the video above. It will impress and, unfortunately based on the topic, depress you.

Chalk one up for great design and storytelling.
