KINDLE MEETS IPHONE

In another sign of how smart competitive companies like Apple and Amazon better understand the bigger picture of innovation and serving consumers, Amazon has released a free Kindle iPhone application that lets you easily read eBooks bought from Amazon on your iPhone. Although both are direct competitors when it comes to music and video sales, this commingling of companies allows each to strategically satisfy a corporate and consumer need. Since Apple has never shown a real interest in the eBook market, allowing this application only makes their iPhone that much more powerful and appealing to consumers. And while the iPhone is no substitute for the Kindle reader, it allows consumers to get comfortable reading eBooks and hopefully become future Kindle users. The end result is a win-win for the companies and a major win for consumers.
